Having called Blewett home for nearly 30 years, and as a member of our local volunteer fire department, I take great pride in this unique community.
Blewett has a unique history of gold/silver miners and prospectors. 49th creek, which is located on the western side of Blewett, was named after the San Francisco gold rush of 1849. On their way to the Alaskan gold rush, prospectors stopped in BC to look for gold. One such spot was 49th creek where they found lots of gold deposit in the water, but never found the mother load!
Many of the workers lived on the east side of Blewett, instead of in Nelson proper. There are still some very old dwellings, remnants of a different time. Now, Blewett is know for it's large acreages, rural lifestyle and natural beauty of Kootenay river, the canals and quiet tranquility of nature. With no zoning restrictions, Blewett offers endless possibilities and opportunities with land for sale rural Nelson BC.
